He walked away at about 4 p.m. and has not returned, said Sgt. Tony Turnbull, spokesman for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Moparti arrived last month from India and is unfamiliar with the area.
Daughter Durga Moparti said family members had seen her dad walking along a road near the reception grounds, but they all believed he had just gone for a stroll, she told FOX40-TV.
"I believe that he was just walking and he fell unconscious," she said. "He just tripped, or something like that. But I'm really not sure what happened and this seems like a total mystery."
Relatives have been scouring the area since Moparti vanished, but have found nothing.
Some family members told authorities the father had been depressed, but his daughter said he had seemed to be enjoying himself at the wedding and reception and was participating in the ceremonial events.

Search dogs were used by Sheriff's deputies and a nearby lake was examined, authorities said.
Moparti is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and was wearing a traditional Indian tunic in brown and gold colors. He has black eyes and salt-and-pepper hair.
