Breitbart Reporter Resigns After Alleged Altercation with Trump Campaign Manager
"I can't stand with an organization that won't stand by me."
Reporter Michelle Fields tweeted on Monday morning that she is leaving conservative news outlet Breitbart after an alleged altercation with Donald Trump’s campaign manager.
On Twitter, she said that she was leaving because Breitbart had not supported her following her complaints.

Fields also told Buzzfeed that she resigned immediately from her company, saying: “Today I informed the management at Breitbart News of my immediate resignation.”
Breitbart Editor-at-Large Ben Shapiro is also leaving. Shapiro and Fields both told Breitbart News chair Steve Bannon their decision on Sunday night.
"Today I informed the management at Breitbart News of my immediate resignation,” Fields told Buzzfeed. “I do not believe Breitbart News has adequately stood by me during the events of the past week and because of that I believe it is now best for us to part ways.”
Over the weekend, it was reported that a senior editor at Breitbart had told staffers to stop speaking out about the alleged incident.
In a statement, Shapiro said: "Breitbart News not only stood by and did nothing outside of tepidly asking for an apology, they then attempted to abandon Michelle by silencing staff from tweeting or talking about the issue."
Last week, Fields claimed she was grabbed and nearly thrown to the ground by Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski when she tried to ask the real estate tycoon a question backstage in Florida. The incident allegedly happened on Tuesday at the Trump National Golf Course.
She later posted images of bruises she said she obtained in the altercation:
Lewandowski later attacked Fields in a tweet, writing: "You are totally delusional. I never touched you. As a matter of fact, I have never even met you."
Fields filed criminal assault charges against Trump’s campaign manager with the Jupiter Beach Police Department, according to The Independent Journal.
Following Thursday’s GOP debate, Trump was asked about the alleged altercation and said: “The Secret Service was surrounding everybody. They said nothing happened. Everybody said nothing happened. Perhaps she made this up. I think that's what happened.”
