Legendary Rock Singer Meat Loaf Collapses on Stage Mid-Song
Many fans were bewildered by what happened to the singer.
Iconic rock singer Meat Loaf stunned Canadian fans when he collapsed in the middle of a song Thursday night.
Footage shows the moment the larger-than-life performer fell to the floor at the Jubilee Auditorium at about 9:30 p.m., while he was performing his hit "I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)," according to reports.
Within minutes, ambulances and fire trucks arrived on the scene and took the 68-year-old singer, whose real name is Marvin Lee Aday, to a local hospital. Fans were then told to clear the arena.
A rep for the singer told Rolling Stone Friday morning that he is in "stable and in good condition."
On Friday morning, a statememt about his condition was posted on Facebook.
The statement said that the collapse was due to "severe dehydration."
The “Bat Out Of Hell” singer had cancelled gigs earlier in the week due to illness.
The singer seemed eager to perform in Edmonton on Thursday, taking to Twitter prior to the concert to show his excitement.

After his collapse, many fans told The Edmonton Journal that they was confused by the incident.
“It looked at first like he was just being theatrical and lying down on the stage,” said concert goer Britt Brewer.
Another fan, Lotta Shandalla, added: “I didn’t know if it was real. All of the band stopped playing instantly.”
Fans tweeted about Thursday night's incident.
The singer has collapsed on stage in the past. In 2011, he buckled at a show in Pittsburgh and at a 2003 gig in London.
