Father of 2 Surprises Wife With Adoption Papers: 'She Loves the Hell Out of My Kids'
Keri McNaught of Ontario, Canada, was shocked as she unwrapped a set of adoption papers for her husband's children.
This is the sort of gift that needs no sizes, nor gift receipts.
Keri McNaught, 45, of Ontario, Canada, was given the shock of her life when she unwrapped a set of adoption papers for her husband's children during a birthday and Christmas celebration hosted by her husband, Rob McNaught, 49.
"She burst out crying," Rob told InsideEdition.com. "She thought she was getting a shirt or a sweater or a pair of pants, and I had all the paperwork in the envelope."
Keri can be seen in a video licensed by Caters News overwhelmed and doubling over as she took the papers out of a manila envelope in front of her closest friends and family.
"I swear I have the best wife in the world, and she's such a great mom," Rob said, "so why don't we finalize things and get things in order?"
He told InsideEdition.com that for the last seven years they have been together, including one year of marriage, Keri has been an ideal parent to her two children.
16-year-old Travis' mom left when he was only 9 months old, and 9-year-old Eva's mom had been battling mental illness until she took her own life last year, Rob said.
"[With Keri] I don't worry about my kids for even a second," Rob said. "I don't think they could get any closer if she had the stretch marks to show she had these kids. She loves the hell out of my kids and they love the hell out of her."
Rob said his two kids were thrilled with the idea when he brought it up, so he went ahead to organize a surprise birthday party for his wife, where he would present her the adoption papers as well.
"She knew nothing, she didn't know about my party and she didn't know about the papers," Rob joked, adding, "for a guy, it's pretty good."
He said that following the big reveal in December, the family will go to the courthouse later this week to submit the papers.
"If something happens to me, I want my kids to know they still have a mother," Rob said. "It turned out really good. I couldn't ask for a better life."
