Crowd Goes Wild as Student With Special Needs Drains Final Shot of Basketball Game
It was nothing but net for young Lainy Frederickson, who was sent into the game in the final minute.
Lainy Fredrickson's amazing shot came when her Norman High School basketball team took on arch rivals Norman North Friday night.
The special needs senior received chants from fans who were telling the school’s coach: “We Want Lainy! We Want Lainy!”
With under a minute left, she hugged her coach, went out on the court and scored the final basket.
“It was really loud and really fun,” Lainy told Inside Edition following her heroics.
Lainy's teammates showered her with love and they're still doing just that. Following the shot, she ran over the cheerleaders and hugged each of them as tears of joy streamed down her face.
Lainy’s mother called the experience "something I will never forget."
The clip went viral after it appeared on ESPN, making Lainy an overnight sensation.
