WWE Star John Cena Proposes to Girlfriend Nikki Bella in the Ring: 'I Couldn't Have Said Yes Faster'

The power couple had just won a tag-team match at Sunday's WrestleMania 33 when John Cena dropped down to one knee and proposed.

WrestleMania 33 took a romantic turn when WWE superstar John Cena jumped in the ring — not to take on an opponent — but to propose to longtime wrestler girlfriend Nikki Bella.

The power couple had just won a couples' tag-team match against The Miz and his wife Maryse at Sunday’s event when Cena dropped down to one knee and proposed to Bella, his girlfriend of more than three years.

“I never would have thought he would propose in front of all those people,” Bella, who stars in reality show Total Bellas with her twin sister Brie, said in a Monday interview with the Today show. "I couldn’t have said yes faster."

Cena admitted the plan was concocted more than a year ago. Bella was being put under general anesthesia for a surgery, and moments before she fell unconscious, Cena asked if she would marry him if he proposed.

"She doesn’t remember it," Cena said.

The proposal was guarded secret. Even Cena's mom, who by coincidence was in the 70,000-strong audience for the first time to witness her son in action, had no idea of his plans.

“That’s home for us,” Bella said. “WWE is our home. It’s where we met, it’s our passion, it’s our life.”

Although Cena has said in the past that he never wanted to be married, he said, “I found the absolute right person. I found a strong person I find an inspiration, an equal […] It took someone strong to change my view on life."
