At Least 13 Dead, 50 Others Injured as Van Plows Into Crowd of People in Barcelona, Spain

The incident occurred Thursday in Las Ramblas. Responding authorities are urging onlookers to get indoors and stay away from the area.
As many as 13 people have been killed and 50 others injured after a van drove into pedestrians in a Barcelona area popular with tourists in an act of terrorism, officials said Thursday.
The white van jumped the curb and slammed into people Thursday afternoon in Las Ramblas. Authorities responding to the area have urged onlookers to get indoors and stay away.
Two men exited the vehicle and were believed to be holding hostages inside a restaurant in the city, The Associated Press reported.
Police later made two arrests, including the suspect who rented the van, Driss Oukabir.
President Trump, who has been briefed on the situation, issued a rebuke to the attack on his Twitter account, pledging to do "whatever is necessary to help."
