This 6-year-old girl is taking her dad’s basketball advice to heart.

Video shows little McCartney Cothron playing some mean defense at basketball practice, using her arms and body to prevent her pint-size opponents from scoring.

“My mom and dad told me to stay in front of them and to catch the ball,” McCartney told InsideEdition.com. So she did.

Her dad, known as Barstool Sports' Uncle Chaps, hosts "Podfathers." He frequently talks about McCartney and couldn’t be prouder of his little girl for heeding his words of wisdom.

“She goes into everything that she tries really really hard, and she just has a big personality, and it came through in one 60-second video, so I was really happy about that,” he told Inside Edition.com.

McCartney's game play was so intense that Chaps' colleagues at Barstool Sports broke down the clip, as did Basketball Hall of Fame legend Scottie Pippen on ESPN. Pippen played 17 seasons with the NBA and won six NBA championships.

“That was probably the most surreal aspect of it all,” said Chaps. “I grew up watching the championship Bulls game. So hearing Scottie Pippen talk about my daughter, I was just so shocked that he was talking about her, but I was proud of her.”

With McCartney's first game coming up soon, she's more than ready to hit the courts.

“I’m just gonna try my best, do really good defense and try to catch the ball,” said McCartney.
