Audrey Hepburn's Classic Pearl Earrings Headed to Auction

Several items belonging to Audrey Hepburn are going up for auction.
The third and final auction from the estate of legendary actress Audrey Hepburn will take place online in May.
Christie's auction house will sell some 200 lots of the Oscar-winner's belongings, including a pair of elegant pearl earrings that epitomized Hepburn's classic, understated style.
According to son Sean Hepburn Ferrer, these were the only pearl studs in his mother's possession when she died in 1993.
A Bulgari cigarette case given to the diminutive star by husband Mel Ferrer will also be up for bid during the May 2 to May 9 sale. It was a present for her 29th birthday on May 4, 1958.
An ivory wool gabardine coat worn in Rome by Hepburn in 1968 will also be auctioned.
A pair of pale pink Capezio ballet slippers are listed at $2,100 to $3,500.
Two previous auctions of Hepburn's belongings were extremely successful. Last year's sale, which featured her Breakfast at Tiffany's script, brought in seven times the amount her estate had expected.
"Having taken 25 years to be ready to share our mother’s personal world, we were truly touched by the global response to Part I and II of her collection," Hepburn's sons Luca Dotti and Sean Hepburn Ferrer said in a statement.
"It is with pleasure that we now present 'Part III'; a further group of her belongings that we feel will be of interest to her ever-growing base of admirers."
