Baby Chick Is Born to Same-Sex Penguins at Australian Aquarium
The fathers are doting dads.
Two male penguins just became fathers at an Australian aquarium.
The same-sex couple, Magic and Sphen, was trusted to foster a penguin egg at Sydney's Sea Life Aquarium.
They are now doting dads.
The tiny sub-Antarctic Gentoo was born Oct. 19, weighing just over 3 ounces.
Staff at the aquarium tested the dads with a dummy egg before giving them a real one.
The couple kept the egg on small nesting rings built from pebbles and shared duties, with one penguin watching the nest for potential threats while the other kept the egg warm.
The baby chick hasn’t been named yet.
