The Couple That Weighs Together: Meet the Husband and Wife Who Shed More Than 400 Pounds

The Indiana couple decided to undergo life-changing efforts to lose weight as a team.

An Indiana couple who shed more than 400 pounds is sharing how they were able to complete the remarkable metamorphosis.

Lexi and Danny Reed were married in 2015 and the Indiana couple had much in common, including bad diets.

She said they would order pizza and eat a lot of fried foods.

At her heaviest, 27-year-old Lexi tipped the scales at nearly 500 pounds, and 29-year-old Danny weighed almost 300 pounds.

They decided to make a life-altering New Year's resolution two years ago: To shed the weight as a team.

They began with exercise and overhauled their diet.

She said they cut out fatty foods and started eating leaner meats like chicken and turkey, as well as healthier carbs like sweet potatoes. They also incorporated more vegetables into their diet.

"I am living just a better life and I basically saved my life," Lexi said.

"I am just trying to keep up with her," Danny joked.

Their stunning transformation is featured in the latest issue of People magazine, which hits newsstands Friday.

Their transformation begs the question: What are the best overall diets?

It’s both the Mediterranean Diet and the DASH Diet, which was originally created to combat high blood pressure, according to U.S. News and World Report. DASH stands for dietary approaches to stop hypertension.

Each diet is rich in fruits, veggies and fish.
