Did Disgraced Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein Try to Hang Himself in Jail?
Jeffrey Epstein was discovered injured in his jail cell in Manhattan.
Mystery surrounds reports that disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein tried to kill himself.
The 66-year-old was found curled up in a fetal position on the floor of his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan Tuesday. He had marks on his neck and was reportedly crying and semi-conscious.
Information about the incident broke overnight Wednesday into Thursday.
Epstein is claiming he was beaten up by another inmate and called a child predator.
A prisoner, a former cop accused of killing a drug dealer, has reportedly been questioned in the incident, but he denies he laid a finger on Epstein.
Another theory is that it's a scam concocted by Epstein to get a transfer out of the facility, which is notorious for its harsh conditions.
After being checked out by doctors and given the all-clear, though, Epstein is back in his cell.
The accused sex offender is awaiting trial on one count of sex trafficking of minors and one count of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking. He has pleaded not guilty.
