Mark Rober was inspired by Kevin McCallister from "Home Alone."
A former NASA engineer is taking matters into his own hands when it comes to porch pirates.
Mark Rober decided to get even so invented a glitter bomb designed to explode when the package is opened. He also rigged it to spray a foul odor when it went off.
He says he got his inspiration from Macaulay Culkin’s beloved “Home Alone” character, Kevin McCallister.
When the package is stolen, a sensor triggers four cell phones to begin recording so when it is opened, the glitter and the smell comes out — while the porch pirate's reaction is caught on camera.
In total, he says he has caught three porch pirates.
Rober, a YouTuber, uploaded his experiment in a video titled, “Package Thief vs. Glitter Bomb Trap.”
