Brad Pitt Blames Himself for Angelina Divorce in New Interview: 'I Was Boozing Too Much'

The actor has been keeping a low-profile since the news of the split broke last August.

Brad Pitt says he only has himself to blame for the end of his marriage to Angelina Jolie, saying "boozing too much" led to the split that rocked Hollywood.

In an extraordinary admission, the 53-year-old actor tells GQ Style magazine that he compares the divorce to a "death," brought on by his troubles with alcohol.

“I can't remember a day since I got out of college when I wasn't boozing," he said. "I was boozing too much. It's just become a problem. I enjoy wine very, very much and truthfully I could drink a Russian under the table with his own vodka.”

Pitt also opened up about the nasty altercation he had with 15-year-old son Maddox aboard a private jet last year.

The Legends of the Fall actor was investigated by the FBI and Child Protective Services in Los Angeles. No charges were filed but he told GQ Style that it was a turning point in the split from his ex-wife.

"We’ve been able to work together to sort this out. We're both doing our best,” he said.

He also admitted that the music of Frank Ocean has helped him get through the divorce.

“I've been listening to a lot of Frank Ocean," Pitt said. "I find this young man so special. Talk about getting to the raw truth. He's painfully honest. He's very, very special. I can't find a bad one. And of great irony to me: Marvin Gaye's Here, My Dear [Gaye's touchstone album about divorce]. And that kind of sent me down a road.”

The World War Z star posed in national parks for his photo spread. He rolled around at the White Sands National Monument in New Mexico, and had some fun in the swamps at Everglades National Park in Florida.

Since the shocking divorce last August, Pitt has been keeping a low profile in Hollywood. He made a surprise appearance at the Golden Globes in January where fellow stars greeted him with rousing applause.

He says he's stopped boozing and has begun therapy, telling GQ Style: "I love it, I love it."

Pitt appears on three different covers of the summer issue of the magazine, which hits shelves Friday.
