How Meghan Markle Has Enchanted Her Audiences as She Becomes a Member of Royal Family
Since becoming Harry's fiancee, she has connected with crowds at every public appearance.
Meghan Markle is living out a fairy tale that seems like something right out of a Hollywood script.
The 36-year-old has stolen not just the heart of Prince Harry, but that of the world as she has become a focus of fascination and attention since it was announced in 2016 that she was dating the royal.
Following their November engagement, the world has been waiting to see the duo tie the knot and change the monarchy.
Markle was born Rachel Meghan Markle on August 4, 1981, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Doria Loyce Ragland and Thomas Markle.
Meghan is the only daughter of Doria Ragland, a social worker and yoga instructor. She divorced Thomas Markle when Meghan was 6. After that, Meghan lived with her mother but saw her father regularly.
Her bond with her mother remains strong as she and Prince Harry frequently visit her at her Los Angeles home.
Markle’s family has caused much pre-wedding drama for the former “Suits” star, as her father could not attend due to his health, and her half-sister, Samantha Grant, slammed her for not inviting her and other family members to the wedding.
Her half-brother, Thomas Jr., wrote to Prince Harry in the weeks leading up to the wedding, urging him to reconsider marrying his sister. He later penned another letter, begging for an invitation. He is still yet to receive that invite as he arrived in England this week.
Before meeting Prince Harry, Meghan was married to film producer Trevor Engelson. They met in 2004 and married in Jamaica in 2011.
After six years of dating and two years of marriage, Engelson and Markle divorced in 2013, citing "irreconcilable differences."
Alongside Prince Harry, she connects with crowds at every public appearance, including youngsters.
She is modernizing the monarchy by becoming the first American, bi-racial, divorcee to marry into the royal family. She is also three years older than the prince.
Before meeting the prince, Markle traveled the world as a humanitarian, and connected with Harry on their charity work.
On Saturday, May 19, the princess fairy tale of a girl from California will come true.
