Idris Elba Named 'Sexiest Man Alive' by People Magazine
He takes the title from Blake Shelton.
There is a new “Sexiest Man Alive” in town – Idris Elba.
People magazine gave the 2018 title to the 46-year-old on Monday, making him the 33rd person to hold it.
The “Thor” star said the honor is an “ego boost for sure.”
“Come on, no way. Really?'” the actor said of his reaction at the news. “Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, ‘Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.’ But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise.”
Elba, who is originally from the U.K., rose to fame after playing drug kingpin Russell "Stringer" Bell on HBO's "The Wire," and has since appeared in dozens of TV shows and films.
In his free time, Elba likes to DJ. He is also currently designing his own clothing line and planning his wedding.
Elba took the title from last year’s pick, country singer Blake Shelton.
