Police are searching for man who they said stalked a little girl and tried taking her big brother from his school bus before leaving an unsettling note in their family’s mailbox in Brooklyn.
The 8-year-old girl first spotted the creep following her as she walked with a friend from her home to her school bus pickup location near Eastern Parkway and Brooklyn Avenue in Crown Heights around 8:30 a.m. Friday.
The man hid between cars as he trailed the child but fled when she reached the bus stop, where numerous parents were waiting, police said.
The girl’s 12-year-old brother had a run-in with the same man later that day, when the stranger flagged down his school bus in an attempt to pick him up around 1:30 p.m., cops said.
The man told the bus matron he was there to pick up the young boy, but the matron said he was not on the authorized pickup list.
He fled when the woman threatened to call police.
Around 7 p.m., the girl spotted the man standing on the steps to her family’s home “ducking down and taking pictures of the interior of the house,” officials said.
She confronted the man, who allegedly asked her where she sleeps and who she lives with, but she refused to answer and he ran away.
But he returned the next day around 11 a.m. and approached the boy, asking him questions about his parents and what bedroom he sleeps in, cops said.
The boy didn’t answer the man, who stared at the home for a while before driving off in a white four-door sedan toward New York Avenue, surveillance footage showed.
Later that day, the family found a note in their mailbox that said: “Watch out. I am watching you!! Your daughter is cute.”
The family told police they don’t know the man, who is described as bald with a dark complexion and medium build. He stands about 5-feet-9 and weighs about 160 pounds.
Anyone with information about the stalker is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls are confidential.
