Man Fed Up With Porch Pirates Creates Booby-Trapped Package to Deter Thieves
Jaireme Barrow's security camera footage has caught numerous thieves getting the fright of their lives.
A Washington state homeowner says he was so fed up with thieves taking packages from his front porch that he rigged a box to detonate when it's lifted, giving would-be robbers quite a scare.
Jaireme Barrow, of Tacoma, told Inside Edition that his security cameras have caught a wave of would-be thieves getting the fright of their lives.
“It's completely harmless," he said. "It's just a really loud noise."
He loaded the box with 12-gauge blank shotgun shell and the device has gone off about 15 times total since he created it, including two explosions in the last two weeks.
Some people who have seen the videos are skeptical, questioning how one home could really be targeted by porch pirates 15 times in the last year-and-a-half?
He says it keeps happening to him and his packages because he lives on a busy street, adding, “My porch...sticks out like a sore thumb.”
Another reason for the skepticism is the fact that Barrow is now selling an invention called the Blank Box, which detonates the blank shotgun shell.
He claims videos he has posted showing the scared thieves are 100 percent real.
