Man Proposes Inside the Convenience Store Where He Met His Girlfriend

The two had hit it off immediately.

One man’s life came full circle when he proposed to his girlfriend in the store where he first met her.

Craig Godfrey, who works as a sales assistant at Sewell on the go, got down on one knee in a cute video caught on the store’s surveillance cameras in the exact spot where he met his girlfriend, Laura Orr, while he was working.

Orr had come to the station to get a cup of coffee more than a year ago and Godfrey said it was definitely “love at first sight.”

"I remember the day Laura came into the store on her way to work in July last year,” Godfrey said. "We chatted at first, then became friends on Facebook and through text, and here we are now.”

Godfrey, 29, said he was recently out in York, England, enjoying the day with Orr when he slipped into a shop to buy the ring after telling Orr he needed to find an ATM.

On their way home, Godfrey stopped at his store and got down on one knee as Orr poured herself some hot chocolate.

"For the proposal I was really nervous because even though I had planned to propose to her in the store where we first met, I bought the ring on the spur of the moment really,” Godfrey said.

In a video shared by SWNS, Orr, 33, looked shocked at the proposal.

"It wasn't a cliché and it was personal to us,” Orr said. “I still can't believe it has happened. I'm over the moon and it's time to start planning."

The couple's special day is set for July 2019.

Store Manager Sue Abbott said she was delighted for Craig and Laura and wished them a lifetime of happiness as they plan their future together.

"I think it's fantastic," Abbott said. "When you look back at the CCTV, you can see how nervous Craig was. We've never had anything like this happen in the store. We are really happy for them."
