A man is disputing reports he abandoned a dog by the side of the street after video showed the pup chasing alongside him.
Stephen Silver was driving in Southern California when he saw a man with a dog in the street. He started recording on his cellphone, and the footage shows the dog seemingly appear to play with the man. The man tries to push the animal away, and then gets into a car and drives off.
The dog runs alongside the vehicle a little while, and then is left alone.
Though it appeared the man was abandoning the dog, he has since come out and said the dog was a stray he stopped to feed that wouldn't leave him alone.
Kern County Animal Services said one of its officers found the black Labrador mix and the dog is now living at a shelter, KGET reported.
He has since been named Anakin and is one happy dog while he awaits his forever family.
