Rare 55-Carat Ruby Expected to Sell for Over $30 Million

The largest, and most expensive ruby to ever be auctioned off will be hitting the blocks at Sotheby’s. It’s called the Estrela de Fura, or Star of Fura in Portuguese, and it’s a 55.22-carat ruby. Because of its size, deep red coloring, and the fact that it has never been heat treated, this stone is estimated to sell for an astronomical sum. The Estrela de Fura Ruby is estimated to be worth in excess of $30 million.
