7 California Cops and Nurse Face Charges in 2020 Death of Man in Custody

Seven California highway patrol officers and a nurse were charged with involuntary manslaughter after the 2020 death of a motorist in police custody.  Edward Bronstein was pulled over for suspicion of driving under the influence. A short time later, the California Highway Patrol obtained a warrant to draw his blood. Bronstein initially resisted but then agreed as officers restrained him while he was on the ground. One officer put his knee on Bronstein's back as he screamed: "I can't breathe."
