Many people are nostalgic for 2016. Social media challenges, skinny jeans and the water bottle flip were all the rage. Ever since New Year's Day 2026, the hashtag "2016" has surged 450 percent. On TikTok, which did not exist a decade ago, there have been 1.7 million posts about 2016.
