Anymal The Robot Dog Will Venture Close To Volcanoes

Volcanologists may soon get a lending paw from a helpful robot called "Anymal." The dog-like machine uses its four legs to walk through uneven terrain – giving it a "leg up" on wheeled vehicles. Anymal is being developed by a team of Swiss researchers, who say this could become an important tool in volcanology. Anymal performed well on recent tests on Sicily's Mt. Etna, needing just a little human help. The hope is that future iterations of Anymal will be fully autonomous.
