Paris Commuters Walked Over 50 Graves Without Knowing It

A planned new exit to the Port-Royal train station prompted an audit of the surrounding area by the National Institute of Preventive Archaeological Research. They excavated about 2,152 square feet of land, striking part of what's known as the Saint Jacques necropolis. There,  archeologists discovered 50 graves in an almost 2000-year old graveyard. Along with human remains, the Institute says they found glass and ceramics, shoes, jewelry, and coins.
