Arizona Man’s Lifeguard Training Helps Him Save His Choking 8-Month-Old Daughter

Ryan Diroma was shooting hoops in his backyard when he found his 8-month-old daughter, Blake, choking in his wife's arms. As he rushed into his Arizona home, Diroma hit his daughter three times, and then he heard her cry and a carrot came flying out of her mouth. Now, he's crediting his teen lifeguard job for helping him know what to do. Diroma says he remembers a picture that showed that you're supposed to hold a baby at a downward incline if they're choking.
