Escaped Pet Emu Dies After Deputies Lassoed Her

An Arizona woman is heartbroken after her beloved pet emu was strangled to death. Stephanie Moilan says her pet emu, named Richard, would sometimes jump out of her enclosure and take off but she always returned home. However, this time a neighbor called the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office in Arizona. A deputy put a lasso on her and then dragged the emu over to the police vehicle. Richard the emu later collapsed and died.
