Authorities clear Man Accused Of Decapitating Sea Lion On Beach

One man learned his image was plastered on a wanted poster offering a $20,000 reward to anyone who could identify him. He was accused of decapitating a sea lion. But, it never happened. Jason Bietz says it started when a stranger encountered him on a California beach. She suspected Bietz was cutting up a dead sea lion that was lying on the shore, a violation of state law. Bietz says he contacted authorities to clear his name, which they now have done.
