Avian Flu Leads to ‘Eggflation’ Sticker Shock for Shoppers

The price of eggs may have jumped more than anything else at the grocery store. Since last year, the average cost of a dozen eggs surged from $1.47 to $3.60. Bakeries have had to raise their prices accordingly, as well. Not only are eggs more expensive, but they are also in short supply. The primary cause is the avian flu, which has affected millions of birds. Shoppers who are frustrated by this ‘eggflation’ might want to consider alternatives.
