Baby Born 117 Days After Mother Suffered Stroke and Was Declared Brain-Dead

A healthy baby girl has been born 117 days after her mother was declared brain-dead. The little girl was born weighing 4 pounds, 11 ounces and measuring 16.5 inches on Aug. 15, according to University Hospital in Brno, Czech Republic. "This case is unique not only in the Czech Republic but also worldwide," the hospital said. The baby's mother, who has not been identified, was 15 weeks pregnant when she suffered a severe stroke and was rushed to the hospital unconscious.
