Belgium Company Uses Coffee Ground-Turned Mushrooms to Create Home Insulation

These mushrooms aren’t for eating. They’re for insulating tiles to use for construction. A company in Brussels, Belgium is making the mushrooms using straw and coffee grounds. They get grounds delivered to them from partner cafes around the country. They mix them up, add the spores, and after 15 days, the mushrooms are harvested. Not only is this process innovative, but it can cut down on plastic waste. Inside Edition Digital’s Andrea Swindall has more.
