Man Who Attacked Former Sheriff's Deputy Found Not Guilty

A California jury failed to convict a man who attacked and took a gun away from a former sheriff's deputy despite it being captured on video. Deputy Meghan McCarthy was responding to a call for help from the suspect’s own mother when he started punching McCarthy. As she fell to the ground, the man grabbed her weapon. Ari Young was charged with attempted murder, battery against a peace officer and resisting arrest. However, jurors only found him guilty of negligent discharge of a firearm.
