Captain Jerry Boylan Found Guilty in Deadly Boat Fire

A jury found the captain of a dive boat that caught fire guilty of gross negligence. The dive boat caught fire 25 miles off the coast of Southern California in 2019, killing 34 people. Prosecutors say captain Jerry Boylan, woke up amid the flames, called in a “mayday,” and jumped overboard. Prosecutors also claim the captain failed to appoint a roving patrol to keep watch overnight and failed to train his crew for emergencies.
