    Chernobyl's Protective Shield Isn't Working After Drone Strike

    The UN's International Atomic Energy Agency made a troubling announcement on Friday: Chernobyl's protective shield is no longer working. The containment hangar was meant to seal in radioactive material from the nuclear plant's Number 4 reactor. But after a drone armed with heavy explosives struck the shield in February of 2025, the structure suffered heavy damages. Ukraine said Russia is responsible for the drone attack, a charge that Russia denies.
