Colombian Officials Declare Descendants of Pablo Escobar’s Hippos ‘Exotic’ and ‘Invasive’

Colombia's government is preparing to declare hippopotamuses an exotic invasive species and begin to try to control the descendants of the hippos that were illegally brought to the country more than 30 years ago. "An invasive species is one that has been introduced and that may have affected the ecosystem, that may affect the economy, social, and cause problems in the public health system.” said Carlos Eduardo Correa, Colombia's Environment Minister.
