The Competition Is Fierce and Slimy at Snail Racing World Championship

July 24, 2019

The competition was fierce at this year's World Snail Racing Championships in Norfolk, England. Maria Welby said of her winning snail, "I always believed he had it in him, from the moment I met him earlier today." Snail races have been held for decades, and the world record for snail racing was set in 1995, when Archie the snail sped through the 13-inch course in 2 minutes, 20 seconds. The next World Snail Racing Championships will be held in July 2020.
