Doctor Who Survived Battle With COVID-19 Loses His Mother to the Virus

Dr. Michael Schirripa received cheers as he was released from the same hospital he works at after surviving his battle with COVID-19. He spent 15 days in Staten Island University Hospital, including three in intensive care. But his release was bittersweet, as just three days later, his mother died at the same hospital. His mother Josephine was the matriarch of a large family, and had just celebrated her 90th birthday a few months earlier.
