Early Meteorite Is Salvaged From Fire at Brazil's National Museum

The Brazilian government is investigating a blaze that left behind few survivors at the country's National Museum. Visiting the facility to assess the damage, officials said they would allocate $2.5 million for its restoration. An 11,600-pound iron meteorite that was on display was not damaged in the blaze. The National Museum is said to have had Latin America's largest collection of historic artifacts and documents, according to reports.
