Family Found Mysteriously Dead in National Park May Have Had Algae Poisoning

What happened to a California family of three and their beloved dog who were all found dead on a hiking trail in a remote area or the Sierra National Forest? The bodies of John Gerrish, his wife Ellen Chung, and their 1-year-old daughter Muji, along with the family dog, were found near the Devil’s Gulch area in the Southfork of the Merced River drainage on Tuesday. One possible explanation is toxic algae poisoning. In July, officials warned visitors of toxic algae in the area.
