Feisty Red Pandas Get Swank New Digs

These red pandas are moving on up. The Vienna Zoo residents will soon be relocating to a deluxe new compound, with more and higher trees for doing what red pandas do well: Climbing. Zookeepers hope the pandas, a female named Mahalia and a male named Manjul, will be keeping busy in other ways, and will produce some red panda offspring. Red pandas are native to China, Burma and Nepal, but their numbers are declining due to deforestation.
