Girls With Special Needs Find Community in Special Stars Cheerleading Squad

Gathered on the blue springboard at the World Cup Phoenix cheerleading gym in Pennsylvania, six special needs girls prepare for practice the week ahead of competition. The girls jogging in a circle around the gym to warm up act more like family than they do teammates. Colleen Kennedy, who has autism, reached for her teammate Brianna Keith's hand to help her up from the mat. Brianna also has autism. Being a part of the Special Stars team has helped her to come out of her shell.
