Helen Reddy, the Grammy-winning singer behind the iconic feminist anthem “I Am Woman,” has passed away at age 78. “I Am Woman” became an anthem for women everywhere in the 1970s. The legendary singer died suddenly at a nursing home for Hollywood stars, where she’s been battling dementia for five years. In 2013, Reddy spoke to Inside Edition about the song that made her an icon, saying she wanted to give girls the idea of womanly strength as something to take pride in.
