How 13-Year-Old Boy Saved His Own Life After Falling Into Sewer

Rescue crews in Los Angeles were desperate to find a 13-year-old who fell through a hole and into a sewage pipe on Easter Sunday. Jesse Hernandez was playing behind a fence inside an abandoned maintenance facility when a plank broke apart and he fell 25 feet down a pipe that leads to the Los Angeles River. It was a race against the clock to find him. One firefighter was recorded telling dispatch, “The tunnel is about 3 foot wide, approximately 2 foot deep with swift moving water.”
