How Bees Can Be Trained to Sniff Out COVID-19

Bees might be able to smell coronavirus, researchers say. Dutch scientists collected samples from honey bee keepers and were able to work with the insects so they could confirm a negative or positive test result. “The most difficult part was to show that bees can really be trained to do this and the next step is not very complicated,” said Wim Van Der Poel, Professor in Virology and Research Leader at Wageningen University.
