How Jerrie Cobb Fought Tirelessly for Women to Fly in Space

Fifty years ago, as the world watched American men walk on the moon, Jerrie Cobb had ambitions to join them. Cobb, who battled tirelessly for equal rights, dreamed of being the first female astronaut and took her fight to Congress. In 1998, she spoke with Inside Edition about her battle with NASA and the U.S. government. “Had I been born male, I would … probably have made several trips into space by now,” she said. Cobb never got the chance to go to space and passed away in March 2019.
