Americans watched in horror as Los Angeles burned for five days between April 29 and May 3, 1992. More than 50 people died. The riots started after a jury found four LAPD officers not guilty of beating Rodney King, an unarmed black man. During the melee, Inside Edition visited stores that were targeted by looters. One store owner looked on helplessly as people took off with his goods. Another shop owner explained how his store was spared during the destruction.
