In 1990, Muhammad Ali traveled to Iraq after Saddam Hussain ordered the invasion of Kuwait. While there, Ali was able to negotiate with the former Iraqi dictator for the release of 15 American hostages. To the world, it was a major moment on how the boxing legend used his celebrity to help others. To Ali’s friends like Angelo Dundee, Patti Dreyfus and Joe Frazier, it wasn’t a surprise. They told Inside Edition that the champ always wanted to help those in need wherever he could.
