The new year may be just around the corner, but fear of terrorism is putting a damper on festivities across the globe. In the wake of the recent horrific attack in Australia's Bondi Beach, the traditional New Year's Eve celebration in Sydney has been cancelled. People in Paris are being told to steer clear of the traditional fireworks display at the Arc de Triomphe, and to watch it live on TV instead. Celebrations in Hong Kong and Tokyo have also been scaled back.
