How to Use a Fire Pit Safely to Avoid 4th of July Nightmare

An Indiana family was getting ready to roast marshmallows when their fire pit suddenly erupted. Laura Lopez says she and her grandkids are still traumatized from the incident. Experts say fire pits can be potentially dangerous, especially if you add an accelerant like gasoline. While millions of people use firepits safely each year, the Consumer Product Safety Commission says there were more than 6,000 emergency room visits because of fire pits or outdoor heaters in 2021. Inside Edition's Lisa Guerrero teamed up with Deputy Fire Marshal Tim Lunn for some tips on how to use a fire pit safely.
