From TV dramas to documentaries, America has been frightened and fascinated by serial killers for decades. Years ago, hundreds of serial killers were thought to be active in the U.S. Now, many researchers say there are just a handful. Some reasons for the decline of serial killers include the presence of surveillance cameras and phone-tracking technology which is also making it easier for police to capture killers before they kill again.
